नागपूर — पाणीपुरवठा पायाभूत सुविधा आणि सेवा गुणवत्ता यामध्ये सातत्यपूर्ण सुधारणा करण्याच्या आमच्या प्रयत्नांचा एक भाग म्हणून, लक्ष्मीनगर विभागातील जयताळा आणि टाकळीसीम ESR भागांमध्ये दररोजच्या पाणीपुरवठ्याच्या वेळ आणि दाबामध्ये आशादायक सुधारणा झाल्या आहेत. या प्रगतीमागे अभियांत्रिकी हस्तक्षेप आणि क्षेत्रीय पातळीवर केलेल्या समन्वित प्रयत्नांचे फलस्वरूप आहे.

जयताळा ESR (एकमाता नगर, दादाजी नगर, पक्कीडे लेआउट, पूजा लेआउट, ठाकरे लेआउट, वानखेडे लेआउट) — या भागात पूर्वी केवळ एक तास पाणीपुरवठा होत होता. आता तो वाढून सुमारे चार ते साडेचार तास झाला आहे. हे सुधारणा कार्य 80 मीटर, 150 मिमी पाइपलाइनच्या दुरुस्ती व पुनर्बांधणीसह 400×150 मिमी इंटरकनेक्शनच्या बसवणीमुळे शक्य झाले. पाण्याच्या दाबातही लक्षणीय वाढ झाली आहे. सुमारे 1500 ग्राहक, विशेषतः अपार्टमेंट व हाउसिंग सोसायट्यांमधील रहिवासी, या सुधारणांचा लाभ घेत आहेत.

टाकळीसीम ESR क्षेत्र (सुमित नगर, शास्त्री लेआउट, शिवाजी नगर, म्हाडा कॉलनी, अहिल्या नगर, भांगे विहार, कॉस्मॉस टाउन, साईमंगल सोसायटी, अष्टविनायक नगर, प्रसाद नगर, हिरणवार लेआउट, गुडलक सोसायटी, सर्वे नगर, LIG & MIG क्षेत्रे, दुबे लेआउट, नेल्को सोसायटी, भाग्यश्री लेआउट, अध्यापकआऊट, जलविहार कॉलनी, जलतरंग सोसायटी, SBI कॉलनी) — या भागातही अशाच समस्या होत्या, फक्त एक तास पाणीपुरवठा आणि अनेक ठिकाणी अत्यल्प दाब. त्यामुळे टँकरवर मोठ्या प्रमाणावर अवलंबून राहावे लागत होते. मात्र लक्ष्मीनगर विभागाच्या टीमने नेटवर्क आयसोलेशन, व्हॉल्व्ह ऑप्टिमायझेशन आणि पाण्याचे समप्रमाण वितरण यावर भर दिल्यामुळे परिस्थितीत लक्षणीय सुधारणा झाली आहे. आता 2000 हून अधिक ग्राहकांना नियमित आणि सुसंगत पाणीपुरवठा मिळत आहे, ज्यामुळे टँकरवरील अवलंबन कमी झाले असून स्थानिक समुदायाच्या जीवनमानात सुधारणा झाली आहे.

नागपूर, : ऑरेंज सिटी वॉटर प्रायव्हेट लिमिटेड (ओसीडब्ल्यू) द्वारे संपूर्ण शहरात नियमित होणारा पाणीपुरवठा आणि यासंदर्भातील व्यवस्थापन, नागरिकांच्या तक्रारी व त्यावरील कार्यवाही या सर्व तांत्रिक बाबींचे धडे टाटा स्ट्राईव्ह (Tata STRIVE)च्या विद्यार्थ्यांनी घेतले. शुक्रवारी (ता.30) टाटा स्ट्राईव्‍ह संस्थेच्या युजर एक्सपीरियन्स (यूएक्स) या डिझाईन विषयाशी संबंधित 20 विद्यार्थ्यांनी ओसीडब्ल्यू ला भेट दिली.

ओसीडब्ल्यू द्वारे शैक्षणिक सहभाग आणि भविष्यातील व्यावसायिकांना स्मार्ट वॉटर सोल्युशन्सबद्दल जागरुकतेच्या उपक्रमांतर्गत या शैक्षणिक भेटीचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते.

विद्यार्थ्यांच्या या अभ्यास भेटीमध्ये त्यांना आधुनिक जलप्रणाली व्यवस्थापन आणि दैनंदिन कामकाजात वापरल्या जाणाऱ्या डिजिटल साधनांची प्रत्यक्ष अनुभूती देण्यात आली. यावेळी विद्यार्थ्यांनी ओसीडब्ल्यूच्या अत्याधुनिक हबग्रेड (Hubgrade) सुविधेची देखील प्रत्यक्ष ठिकाणी जाऊन माहिती जाणून घेतली. ओसीडब्ल्यू द्वारे त्यांना पाणीपुरवठा आणि व्यवस्थापनातील डिजिटल पायाभूत सुविधांची सखोल माहिती देण्यात आली. निर्णय प्रक्रिया आणि सेवा कार्यक्षमता वाढविण्यात सहकार्य करणारे विविध सॉफ्टवेअर प्लॅटफॉर्म्स, डेटा डॅशबोर्ड्स आणि विश्लेषणात्मक साधने यांचे प्रात्यक्षिक विद्यार्थ्यांना दाखवण्यात आले.

Nagpur : The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) regularly supplies water to a vast urban sprawl — from large residential societies to small settlements. To ensure household-level water supply across the city, hundreds of kilometers of underground pipelines have been laid. Detecting leaks or any obstructions in this vast pipeline network poses a significant challenge. To ensure safe and pure drinking water for citizens, the NMC and Orange City Water Pvt. Ltd. (OCW) have taken a significant initiative.

To address the issues encountered in maintaining a continuous water supply in Nagpur, NMC and OCW have now begun using advanced technologies. With the help of modern devices like ‘Pushcam’ and ‘Robocam’, obstructions within pipelines laid beneath the city’s busy roads are being identified and rectified. In cases where residents report low water pressure or contaminated water, these devices conduct a thorough internal inspection of the pipelines. Devices such as the Endo 90 Robocam, Small Pushcam, and Big Pushcam can navigate and inspect pipe diameters ranging from 90 mm to 250 mm, identifying even the tiniest faults.

These devices are equipped with advanced sensors that meticulously scan every inch of the pipe interior, detecting even minute defects. Through this technology, long-ignored issues are now being brought to light and addressed effectively.

Often, water pressure drops due to accumulation of debris or silt within the pipes. These cameras help identify such blockages, making it easier to restore proper pressure and flow to households. Contaminated drinking water is a serious health hazard. Whether due to pipe leaks or outdated connections, these cameras help trace the source of contamination, ensuring a clean water supply to residents. They are also capable of identifying unauthorized connections to the water network, aiding in their removal. Additionally, aging pipes often suffer from rust, silt build-up, or cracks — these devices help inspect the internal condition of the pipes, enabling timely replacements when needed.

By adopting this cutting-edge technology, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and OCW have taken a crucial step forward in pipeline management. Through the use of Pushcam and Robocam, the water supply system in Nagpur is becoming more efficient and safer, ensuring better public health and service quality.

Nagpur , June 19, 2025: In the past 24 hours, the water supply in several areas of the city has been severely affected due to damages caused at seven different locations by other contractors involved in development works. On June 16, 17, 18, and 19 during ongoing construction activities at Pratapanagar Chowk, Bijli Nagar (Civil Lines), Hasanbagh Gate, Sharda Mata Chowk, Vaishnodevi Chowk, Pratap Nagar, and Ravi Nagar Square various contractors damaged crucial water pipelines. As a result, thousands of households across the city are facing water shortages.

These incidents have significantly disrupted the regular water supply service, leading to a sharp increase in customer complaints. The demand for water tankers has surged and has now exceeded OCW’s supply capacity. OCW has promptly informed the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) about these incidents to take necessary actions.\

Water pipeline damage has been occurring for several months, but the frequency has increased manifold in recent times. In June alone, a total of 17 instances of damage have been caused by third-party contractors, causing severe inconvenience to the citizens of Nagpur. Multiple incidents have occurred in just the last five days, as detailed below.

June 17, 2025 – 2:00 PM, near Bijli Nagar, Civil Lines: A 700 mm feeder main was damaged by M/s Shri Combines (Optical Fibre laying). Around 22,000 consumers in Reshimbagh CA, Hanuman Nagar CA, and Old & New Wanjari Nagar under Dhantoli zone are affected. The contractor refused to repair the damage, so OCW deployed its own team.

June 17, 2025 – 4:00 PM, near Hasanbagh Gate: A 200 mm distribution line was damaged by T&T Infra Pvt. Ltd. (NHAI works). Around 4,000 residents in Hasanbagh, Nandanvan slum, KDK College area, Venkatesh Nagar, Kavelu Quarters, and LIG-MIG Quarters are affected. Repairs by the contractor are still pending.

June 17, 2025 – 7:00 PM, Sharda Mata Chowk, Gittikhadan: A 150 mm pipeline was damaged by M/s S.S. Communication (Reliance Jio). Around 500 residents in Mahesh Nagar, Mama Chowk, Ahbab Colony, and Borgao under Gittikhadan CA are without water. Contractor has not yet initiated repairs.

Nagpur : To strengthen public trust in the water supply system, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Orange City Water (OCW) have launched the “Consumer Connect” initiative, which is proving to be a decisive step. This program, started by OCW in 2024, primarily aims to understand the needs, issues, and feedback of consumers related to water supply services, take prompt action on them, and enhance overall customer satisfaction.

Under this initiative, Service Point Managers (SPMs) and their teams from all zones are visiting customers directly at their homes and engaging in face-to-face conversations. During these interactions, they listen to customers’ concerns and coordinate with the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) department to resolve them efficiently. Notably, these visits are also being carried out in areas where no issues have been reported, ensuring that all consumers feel heard and valued.

The primary sources of information for this initiative include Hubgrade, the call center, and direct visits by the SPM teams. This on-ground engagement helps in effectively channelizing and addressing the experiences, feedback, and expectations of consumers, thus making the issue-resolution process more effective and result-oriented.

The key objectives of the Consumer Connect initiative are to build trust and strengthen consumer relationships, ensure improved consumer satisfaction, understand individual consumer needs and challenges, and collect and act on valuable feedback.

This initiative marks a clear shift from reactive to proactive service delivery, aiming not just for satisfaction, but for lasting consumer confidence in Nagpur’s water services.

Through the “Consumer Connect” initiative, the communication bridge between NMC, OCW, and consumers is becoming stronger, resulting in improved trust and satisfaction regarding water supply services. OCW has expressed its intention to expand this initiative further in the near future.

Nagpur , :Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Orange City Water (OCW) have jointly disconnected 2,861 illegal water connections across various parts of the city. This action was taken between January and June 2025 across all ten zones through zone teams.

NMC and OCW conducted inspections of household water connections in all ten zones. It was found that in some cases, water connections had been made even before the water meter (Tapping before meter). Other violations included illegal connections, reconnection of disconnected illegal connections, and multiple connections at a single location. The NMC and OCW teams took note of these issues and disconnected the illegal/ unauthorised connections.

Action was taken on 255 connections that were made before the meter point, 1,882 illegal connections, 118 reconnected illegal connections, and 606 locations with double connections — totaling 2,861 illegal connections.

Among all zones, the highest number of actions (922) were taken in the Ashi Nagar Zone. To improve the area’s water supply and management, Ashi Nagar Zone was divided into two parts: 615 illegal connections were found in Ashi Nagar Zone-A and 307 in Ashi Nagar Zone-B. All these were disconnected.

Following this, 760 illegal connections were addressed in Satranjipura Zone. Other zones where action was taken include: Dhantoli Zone (328), Lakadganj Zone (234), Laxminagar Zone (163), Dharampeth Zone (134), Gandhibagh Zone (96), Nehru Nagar Zone (95), Mangalwari Zone (84), and Hanuman Nagar Zone (45). All these illegal connections have been disconnected.
